MOTHERS DAY IN REVIEW

5/7/2012

I remember a Mother's Day with Lisa and the girls, Brooke and Amber.  They were six and ten at the time.  Lisa's attorney had told her to get out of town for a while, because there was no way to stop anyone who was obsessed and knew that a restraining. order was just a piece of paper.
We stayed in different off-the-road motels and friend's summer cottages.   I awoke on Mother's Day to find that somehow Lisa had managed to get herself and the girls out without waking me,  They soon returned with breakfast from McDonald's to surprise me and Lisa presented me with a beautiful  Mother's coffee mug.  I'll cherish it always.  Isn't this how most mothers spend the day?

Mother's Day for me reminds me of not only the loss of my daughter, but a son, Michael who was killed in an automobile accident at the age of 17.  So, I choose to celebrate it as a mother to all women for whom I've been working since 1989, the ones I call Lisa's sisters.  Washington gave me the title of Mother of Victim Notification and I proudly claim it and will continue in my work which is attempting to publish my book as an ebook also, and making a video of Lisa's testimony  to present on site and Facebook.

Happy Mother's Day to you all.  It's the most important job in the world.  Keep the kids safe.
