AS the mother of a brutally murdered victim, I always read with interest the views of others on the death penalty. Several times I confronted (in print) on this issue the views of Notre Dame law professors. There was, of course, much discussion in South Bend on the death penalty. I would smile to myself as I wondered "How much can a Notre Dame law professor know about the realities of the system, especially domestic violence with his limited view from the library"?
Henry David Thoreau wrote --"A truly good book teaches me better than to read it. I must lay it down and, commence living on it's hint....what I began by reading I must finish by acting." Realities must be factored into ideology.
